Water

Water System Guide

Hello everyone,

I hope you have been creatively hydrating your body. Today’s post, I’d like to discuss different water systems and their methods.

Gravity Carbon-based (and Ceramic!)

Carbon-based is the most popular filtration. It is effective at removing large particulates, organic matter, bad odor, and VOCs. As you may know already, not all carbon filters are created the same. There are different grades and types, such as activated, catalytic, granular, powder, and block forms, which determine their ability to remove further contaminants. Berkey used to be one of the highest-rated gravity flow systems, but there has been some inconsistency for a while.

A better alternative I recommend is Alexapure. Similar to Berkey. Alexpura has a lower water flow rate, more contact time between contaminants in the water and the filter, and less recontamination and bacteria growth risk due to its dense structure. What’s different is that the Alexapure has a ceramic exterior to block large molecules of contaminants. Silver in the ceramic prevents the growth of bacteria in the filter. And the carbon block interior filters out microscopic contaminants like viruses.

Alexpure is also budget-friendly, with a long-lasting filter that allows minerals to pass and does not require electricity.

Reverse Osmosis

With a tighter pore structure, the reverse osmosis (RO) water system excels in filtering out dissolved solids and smaller contaminants. However, one should be cautious; clean water is not the same as hydrating water. RO is an extremely painful process for water, using electricity to create forceful hydraulic pressure, stripping out minerals, and destroying the water structure. Often considered ‘dead water,’ RO water has low intracellular hydration capacity and scores zero for vitality. Over the years, I’ve seen many people continuing to be dehydrated from drinking RO water, and by simply switching to structured water, their energy level and symptoms improved significantly.

Initially, RO was introduced for commercial/ industrial use to filter a high volume of water efficiently. Whereas residential use can waste up to 25 gallons of water per 1 gallon of drinking water. I often say ‘we belong to nature, not it to us.’ I believe it is important to discuss health in the context of the current fragile ecosystem state, in this case, global water scarcity, and come up with a symbiotic solution for both humanity and our planet. RO is a linear solution. Besides, there are alternatives to RO, such as nanofiltration and distillation.

According to the Water Quality Association, the RO system has the most problems with biofilm buildup. It has also been reported that most people do not clean the tank regularly, so it becomes a breeding ground for parasites and other unwanted microorganisms.

Having said that, not all RO systems are the same. Some are designed more consciously, and others not so much. If you feel that RO is truly the right choice, then make sure you are diligent about restoring the vitality of the water with a structure device and minerals each time.

Distillation

If you live in an area with a lot of contamination, my recommendation is a distillation, which will guarantee the cleanest water. This is different than filtering, which pushes water through a barrier to hold the contaminants. From boiling, the water molecules and contaminants break apart from each other, and the steam (vapor) rises into a boiling tank and goes to a stainless condensing coil, where it’s cooled off and converted back to water. This is similar to the hydrological cycle in nature, where the sun heats the ocean, the steam goes to clouds, cooled off by air, and changes back to water. Distilled water also comes in handy if you perform an enema regularly.

Keep in mind that a distilled water system should always come with an activated carbon filter to remove VOCs. I was recommended to Pure Water by my mentors during my clinical nutrition training. The company is family-owned and has been around for over 40 years with the longest warranty in the industry. This means you get one and do not have to worry about another water system for the next ten plus years. Currently, they are having a sale and you can receive an additional discount using my code: DRKATHY.

Alkaline/ Ionized Water

Many of you asked me about Kangen water, which is an alkaline/ ionized water system. Growing up in Korea in the 80’s, Kangen was quite popular, and many were selling alkaline ionizers. I remember seeing it on the TV commercials, as well as my friend’s mother coming over with the machine to sell to our family. Regarding Kangen’s materials and technologies, I just cannot justify the price. There are far superior alkaline water systems than Kangen at half the price. The branding gets the sale, not the quality.

There are initial benefits and science behind alkaline ionizers. However, they are meant to be used for the short term. There are a few red flags. The first concern is filtration, which is not thorough. The second is metal plates, which can rust. The third is the electrolysis process, which is an artificial way to create structured, hydrogen-rich water.

Let’s go back to nature as our guide. Springwater is energized, and many scientists translate this as electrically charged. However, water in nature does not get its energy from man-made electricity (120V /240V) plugged into an outlet. The energy in springwater comes from multiple factors, such as minerals, pressure from rocks, surrounding sounds, vortex flow, etc. Man-made electricity is transient at the moment and will not permanently realign water molecules. Essentially, it is electrocuting the water rather than structuring the water.

Think about heating up water using a microwave vs fire. Which willl hold the heat longer? The source of energy matters. Our cells need foods and water with life force, not just ‘active ingredients.’ Ultimately, it’s the coherence of water that allows it to be our medium, solvent, and conductor of electromagnetic frequencies.

Scientific Methods

While science is only one domain, there are two scientific methods to confirm that water is structured. The first one is NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance). This measures the water molecule size. Structured water molecules should be quite small. The second one is recommended by Dr. Gerald Pollack, which is called UV Light refraction test. This determines how light reflects off the water as each phase (steam, liquid, solid) has different light refractions, therefore it can help determine what state the water is in.

Best Water System

Checking all the boxes of filtration, minerals, structured water, and dissolved hydrogen, I highly recommend SpringAqua. It has 14-17 filtration personalized for your location combing advanced nanofiltration, ion exchange, different types of carbons, nanosilver (this replaces UV light which requires electricity), and many more.

SpringAqua biomimics mountain spring water more accurately than any other system using different types of minerals that mimic rock layers and natural water pressure to structure the water. It is the first company to figure out how to stabilize and create dissolved hydrogen gas (most hydrogen water systems end up degassing). As a result, the water stays structured for a long time, sometimes even up to 3 months.

Studying their water with many doctors and scientists over the year, there are unique patterns and strong coherency that have not been seen before with other water systems. Recently a famous naturopath doctor, a researcher in nutrition and agriculture, Dr. Richard Anderson called it ‘radiant water.’

Personally, this is the best health investment. When you break it down the cost is only $1.60 per day. This is for intracellular hydration so the body can detox efficiently, slow down if not reverse aging, repair damaged cells, bring down inflammation, and protect from EMFs. If you are interested, please use my code: DRKATHY for a special offer.

If you already have a filter system, I strongly recommend running through a vortex device and adding minerals. My favorite device is called AquaEnergizer which has been certified to create H3O2. For those with complex health issues such as MCAS, POTS, Lyme, mold illness, and leaky gut, I recommend adding salt water or other salt/ minerals recommend in my Fullscript after structuring the water.

Warmest,

Dr. Kathy

Structured Water

For most of us, we are in a transition to a rebirth season, Spring, where our intentions and thoughts are ready to flow, like ice melting to gushing water.

During this unprecedented time, it is easy to get distracted with information after information, often ornamented with bells and whistles of ‘biohacking’ and social media influences. But when we look at nature, there are only a few essential things for life to thrive. And one of them is water, the most sophisticated medium to cleanse and nourish our body, mind, and spirit.

Today, I’d like to discuss a method of structuring the water already inside our bodies.

Going back to nature, sunlight can create structured water. While studies show that infrared light is the most effective, I always recommend the whole spectrum. Whenever possible, spend time outside and bask in the sun, allowing your skin to absorb the solar energy.

Another powerful way to structure the water is sound. This is not a new phenomenon, but rather lost in our modern lifestyle. To understand how this works, we must first understand that the most fascinating thing about water is its ability to store memory. This is why our intention, words, and prayers matter. Ultimately, it is the ‘energy’, specific frequencies that are imprinted in water that influence all biological functions. This is the basis of homeopathy, where the more diluted the stronger the remedy, by the end of many dilutions, no molecules of the original substance are present. In my biofeedback and sound therapy, the remedy is prepared similarly by using a specific fluid as a carrier of information in scalar waves.

Sound is vibration. Just like light, some are healing, while others can be harmful. The healing sounds help water molecules organize themselves through electromagnetic waves to create harmony inside of the body. This is exceptionally important to understand, as EMFs from cellphones, Wi-Fi, and other harmful radiation are dehydrating our bodies. Healing sounds can counterpoint the damaging effects. When we listen to a specific sound, the frequencies are infused into the water in our bodies. Sounds travel to our brain (80% water) and, equally important, our fascia, which carries immense information affecting our entire body. You can learn more about my Sound Therapy here.

Lastly, but not least, movement is the key to keeping your body’s water happy and structured. Putting together light and sound, think about being outside under the sun, listening to your favorite sound or music. What does your body want to do? You want to move, you want to dance! While I break down different elements of structuring water, my intention is for you to see the whole picture, as in nature. The sun gives energy, the sound is suspended, and the water wants to move. In fact, even when it may seem still, in reality, water is never truly still. This explains why moving water, such as in a stream and waterfalls, is much purer and more energizing than stagnant water, such as in a pond. I hope this makes you think twice about plastic-bottled water sitting in a grocery store under the artificial light and EMFs traveling around. Movement is good for our health because of the water inside our bodies. This is essentially how the structured water system works. Just like water hits rocks, bounces, and swirls, the vortex creates oxygenation, cleansing organic matters, and the water structure resembles our double DNA helix. This just shows how our body is part of nature’s perfect design.

I am exceptionally passionate about water. To dive deep into the healing properties of water and how to shift the paradigm of chronic illnesses from inflammation to cellular hydration, please check out my Structured Water Course.

Shortly, in my next blog, I will share step-by-step guidelines for choosing the most appropriate water system for your individual needs. Meanwhile, here is my favorite water system!

Warmest,

Dr. Kathy

The best water is structured water

I hope you are well and finding peaceful moments each day. When things get hectic, it’s important to stop and go back to basics. It is the same with our health. It’s easy to get caught up in the next best biohacking products, but something so basic like hydration is what sustains all aspects of our life. Indeed hydration is one of the most powerful ways to support our immune system.

Water is my favorite topic. I have wonderful memories of growing up in Korea, hiking every morning to forage for spring water with my family. I am fortunate to have studied water by being immersed in nature and through my grandmother’s wisdom before studying it intellectually.

Water is also a huge topic. There are many elements of water that modern science is rediscovering as well as remaining mysterious.

As you know, our body is mainly water. In fact, 99% of the molecules in our body are water. When we think about all the systems in our body, such as the circulatory, digestive, and lymphatic, they are basically different water networks working together and making up our immune system.

Proper hydration plays a key role in our longevity and vitality.  However, many seem to mistake hydration as simply drinking a lot of water instead of focusing on the quality of water. For example, the clear color of urine does not mean the body is hydrated.

The best water should not only be free of toxins but structured, meaning that water molecules are well organized so that the water can enter deep inside the cells. Most waters, such as tap, plastic bottles, and even ultra-filtered, such as reverse osmosis, have low intracellular hydration levels because they are not structured. This is why most people continue to be dehydrated which leads to inflammation and premature aging.

Though the concept of structured water is relatively new, its intrinsic factor has been embodied by every ancient practice. After all, water is life. Water is sacred. For our generation, the most well-known study is by Dr. Gerald Pollack, whose book, Fourth Phase of Water, explains that structured water, or in his term exclusion zone (EZ) water, is in a hexagonal shape with a formula of H3O2, not H2O.  This is the form that water can do its job the best, such as detoxification, maximum absorption of nutrients, and protecting against the negative effects of non-native EMFs.  In case you didn’t know, one of the major dangers of EMFs is dehydration. I talk about this in-depth in my Structured Water course.

The best structured water is…

Obviously, spring water from Mother Nature. Unfortunately, there are few reliable springs available and the spring water companies usually deliver the water in a plastic bottle or the water has already lost its structure.

So how can we create structured water?

1. Filtration

Water toxicity is serious. Before restoring its structure, most water needs to be filtered. The more aggressive the filtration is, such as reverse osmosis, the more it destroys the water’s structure. One way to know is when the water tastes flat (low viscosity). Many people who drink ultra-filtered water, including my clients, report being thirsty no matter how much they drink.

While there are many filtration options, I have simplified them to a few here. Please keep in mind that no filtering system is perfect.  All have strengths and limitations. My intention is for you to feel empowered, not overwhelmed.  This means we do not allow fear of toxicity to make irrational decisions.

To do so, we must first understand that water’s structure is equally important as its chemical constituents.  Also, the water quality depends on your location.  Some areas are not as contaminated as others.  So testing your local water will give you peace of mind. This is why I mainly use this water system, because the filtration is set up according to my zip code.

2. Structuring

The second step is to structure the water. There are many ways. Today I will talk about creating structured water for drinking.

The simplest way to structure your water is by adding high-quality salt. The one that is most coherent to our body, because of its equal consistency as our blood plasma, is Quinton Isotonic.  If I had to choose one ‘product’, it would be this simple yet miraculous seawater.  I also use two different types of salt. All of these products can be found on my online dispensary, Fullscript, for 15% off under the salt/ mineral category.

My favorite structured way to create structured water is through a vortex device.  This truly brings water back to life. I highly recommend learning about an extraordinary Austrian forest scientist, Viktor Schauberger, and reading the book, Living Water. Many vortex devices are inspired by his work. I own quite a few, and I am particularly impressed with this one.

Last but not least, food is medicine. One of the many benefits of eating predominantly plant-based foods is that they come naturally packaged with structured water inside.  When you think about most fruits and vegetables, they seem solid but are mainly water. Start with the obvious, such as cucumber, celery, and romaine lettuce. Also, the ones that are high in fiber, especially root vegetables, help you absorb water.

3. Mineralization

The last step is to make sure that the water you drink always has minerals.  Along with Quinton Isotonic, I highly recommend diversifying your mineral sources. You can check out my favorite minerals in my Fullscript.

Now you know how to create water that not only prevents but reverses aging, the fountain of youth!

If you are looking for an all-in-one structured water system, this is my favorite. I’ve had it for over five years and still cannot find a more comprehensive one.

Warmest,

Dr. Kathy
