Dr. Kathy’s experience, skill, and wisdom are so incredibly valuable and I feel it is such a privilege she has been able to share all of this with me. I can’t even express how thankful I am for how much healing Dr. Kathy has facilitated for me. It was hard for me to envision my future because I had so much fear surrounding my very complicated chronic illness and didn’t know if it was possible for me to regain my strength. Dr. Kathy has completely renewed my sense of hope. As someone healing from chronic illness, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to find a practitioner who sees you, truly sees you. All I can say is being with Dr. Kathy has felt like coming home to the person I was always meant to be.

Story

Dr. Kathy’s multicultural living coupled with a deep passion for healing people and the earth makes her a very unique and interesting human. Part genetics and part childhood influence wrapped up in an unquenchable curiosity could just be the blend of how Dr. Kathy came to be.

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Dr. Kathy’s greatest influencer was her grandmother who was the first female medical doctor in Korea. Her wisdom was passed to Dr. Kathy from birth with the philosophy of “a good doctor finds answers in nature”. Learning ancient wisdom through seeing the deep interconnection of nature and creativity and the effect on the human body continues to be the lens through which Dr. Kathy develops healing strategies.

As Dr. Kathy traveled through her higher learning, these childhood lessons could never be denied. As she faced the decision for post-graduate study, medical school, or something different, the answer was obvious. Even with a full scholarship to prestigious Columbia University, Dr. Kathy chose a different route because she was unsatisfied with the rigidity and lack of holistic treatment that the allopathic world offered.

The culmination of Dr. Kathy’s life work was to establish Pura Vida Wellness Center in Western Pennsylvania. Patients traveled from around the world to receive her complete and unique blend of expertise in whole-body healing. From professional athletes to newborn babies, Dr. Kathy cared for everyone well while participating locally to build a strong community.

As you know when we reach a dream a new one grows deep within our soul. Dr. Kathy’s dream grew out of a deep soul cry as she began to connect the dots between human health to environmental health. While treating numerous Lyme disease cases, she noticed the parallel between the increase of tick activity and climate patterns. Then she realized it was the same with many other conditions. In the summer of 2017, Dr. Kathy went to volunteer for Wildlife and Conservation in South Africa. There, she firsthand witnessed the collapse of nature mainly due to human-related activities. The question arose, “how are we to be truly healthy when our planet is sick?” Dr. Kathyh felt a deep sense of responsibility to do more, reach more, affect more, both in human health and environmental health.

A huge dream calls for huge action! In June 2018 Dr. Kathy took that huge action by selling her beloved practice and leaping toward her dream of helping limitless people to live harmonious lives through connecting human health to environmental health. It is a tie that is undeniable and imperative for survival.

And here you are! A part of the necessary vision of Dr. Kathy who has this truth in the very fiber of who she is. When you work with Dr. Kathy you will be taught how to incorporate lifestyle changes that bring true healing to your mind, body, and soul. Yes each of us is unique and special with a common thread of desire. We all long for our lives to have meaning and for the longing to be well. This is true health.

Dr. Kathy is so very excited to offer an online clinic where she can work one on one with clients who are seeking true health as well as grow a community through educating the world of the indisputable tie between our environment and our personal health. They are intricately interdependent on the other. Dr. Kathy says, “ there’s no human nature, only nature. We heal only when our mother earth is healed.”
